Kansas City Stockyards, circa 1915

Supplying the world with beef, the Kansas City Stockyards was second only to Chicago, thriving from its opening in 1871 till it was devastated by the flood of ’51 which wiped out much of the West Bottoms. It never regained its glory and finally closed down in the 1991 after 120 years.
