The city of Cusco lies about 11,000 feet above the sea, built by the ancient Inca civilization in the shape of the Puma.
Here it sprawled out before me as I looked from Cristo Blanco, near the ruins of Saqsaywaman and I gazed in awe. Almost a birds eye view of what had not much changed over the centuries.
I knew then I wanted to paint this scene, trying to capture it’s feel, it’s look, it’s complexity. Yet without becoming too complex.
What fun, and as I painted I remembered those people I encountered, the shops I explored, the streets I roamed. The ancient capital of the Incas, part of my Pleins to Peru series.
