Abandoned at LaSauses is a plein air painting from the San Luis Valley of Colorado. Painted on a cold blustery day in the mid of February 2012.

What captured me was this old abandoned adobe ranch house on a little rise with the backdrop of the mountain behind it. The thing was begging for someone to paint it. Having use of only 1 arm from a “painting accident” the previous day, I gingerly set up in a ravine to keep out of the main force of the winds. I painted for about 2 hours on this, before calling it quits. Better than a good block in, I had only minor refinement in studio.
