Out of the Wind
20×16 oil

One of the 1st nice days into the STEMS Plein air event, the clouds had finally dissipated, and the sun broke out, but with it came some very strong winds. I tried painting at Margaret’s Pond, but the winds were playing havoc with my canvas, so I headed into the woods to find shelter. This scene is looking West on the Rocky Ridge Trail. I loved the way the sun was coming through the leaves and lighting up parts of the trail. It was a very nice place to paint, out of the summer sun, and protected by the strong winds.
