Deep in the heart of this continent’s largest tall grass prairie lies Cottonwood Falls and the oldest operating courthouse in the state of Kansas. Kimbell McCurry and I came to Cottonwood Falls actually looking for the old mill to paint. After talking to the locals, we discovered it had been torn down decades ago. Okay, plan B, the county courthouse. Still pretty early in the day, Kimbell got the shade across the street, I went for more of an extreme angle, but was left standing in the sun. I was fine but after a couple hours I was ready to head for a shade tree.
